非日常の道具たちから学ぶ

私たちは日常で古くから使われてきた様々な道具たちより、生活の有意義さを手にしてきた。その一方で、専門的な機能に突出した道具たちも各分野で重要な役割を果たしている。そんな非日常で活躍する道具たちを、普段の生活の中に落とし込んで見ることで、新たな発見を見つけることができるのではないかと考える。

We have received the meaningfulness of life from the various tools that have been used in our daily lives since ancient times. On the other hand, tools that stand out for their specialized functions also play an important role in their respective fields. I believe that I can find new discoveries by incorporating such tools that are used in the extraordinary into our daily lives.
挟む動作と用途

私が面白いと思った道具は、挟む動作をする道具たちである。その中で、洗濯バサミと試験管ばさみに注目した。洗濯バサミとは私たちが服を干すために利用する道具。それは水を含んだ重い布を吊るすための道具である。一方試験管ばさみは危険な薬品を安全に運ぶための道具である。違う用途で用いるために作られた道具だが、同じ挟む動作をする。そこから、用途の違いに境界線をつけず、『日常で使うそっと丁寧に挟む道具』を目指した。素材、形、色などを検証し、ちょっとしたものを挟んでおけるようなクリップを作製。キッチンでレシピメモを挟んだり、部屋に写真を飾る時に用いることを想定する。
Pinching motion and usage.

The tools that I found interesting were those that made the pinching motion. Among them, I focused on washing scissors and test tube scissors. Laundry clippers are the tools we use to hang our clothes out to dry. It is a tool for hanging a heavy cloth that contains water. On the other hand, test tube scissors are a tool to carry dangerous chemicals safely. It's a tool made for different purposes, but it makes the same pinching motion. From there, I aimed to create "a tool that can be gently and carefully sandwiched for everyday use" without drawing a boundary between the different uses. After examining the materials, shapes, and colors, I created a clip that can be used to hold small items. It is supposed to be used to hold recipe notes in the kitchen or to display photos in the room.
